Hi, I'm Jacob.
I work at the intersection of business analysis, financial modeling, and technical product management — which mostly means I spend my time translating messy real-world problems into something a spreadsheet, a query, or a dashboard can actually answer.
This site is where that translation happens in public. Some posts are full breakdowns — a real dataset, a real business question, SQL and Python work shown plainly, a dashboard you can actually click through. Others are shorter: a chart that surprised me, a question I haven't fully answered yet, a pattern I noticed in an industry I don't normally write about.
The throughline is curiosity that doesn't stop at finance. I write about real estate and lending because that's where a lot of my own work lives, but I'm just as interested in why a transit app's arrival estimate is always a little off, or what a hospital's wait-time data actually says about how it's run. Different industries, same instinct: find the number that's actually load-bearing, and ignore the ones that just look busy.
I post new thoughts every few weeks — sometimes a deep technical project, sometimes a quick one. If something here is useful, wrong, or worth arguing about, I'd like to hear it.
